Randy Green stands tall over all the Tribbles because he's 6 feet forever-inch tall and because that's what he does. He collects family and he protects them. When you're raised by a father whose a cop and an uncle whose a cop, discipline is 'put into you' and duty is ingrained. Couple that with an intense understanding of what it means to be Superman and you have the most stand-up brother in the world.
If anybody embodies what it is to be a Black Tribble, its Randy. He is the coolest cat in the room from the moment his big toe crosses the threshold. He greets the world with a smile and a hug the size of a Cadillac. He will break down the diversity of Kryptonite and its effects on Kal-El, throw down at the D&D table before bounding onto the stage to morph into the dopest MC whose a dope MC.
Randy is 100% RSon, The Voice of The Reason. Infecting his rhymes with metaphors that take you way back, sound bites from the crates and head scratching microphone majesty, his distinctive rasp clearly delineates the many ways he is your superior with "knowledge and understanding over nearly everyone."
Another day, another stage to wreck
I got rhymes that ain’t even seen the pages yet
All you challengers step up and place your bets
And I'ma take ‘em all out and not break a sweat
Take your threats elsewhere. I stay on the road
By the time I get back to you, maybe you’ll hope
To be worthy of a face off in the center of town
The Devil’s waiting for you, boy. I’m sending you down
Then it’s on to the next, like that song from Jay
Leaving a trail of bodies all along the way
Some of y'all might believe that’s wrong to say
But that’s a rambler’s life and I was going to stay
So, think twice then maybe have a third
I am the voice of reason, in case you haven’t heard
I spit hot enough that I can make the sun melt
You just gonna wind up a notch on my gun belt.
-- Gunslinging Rambler, Gangstagrass
Along with his partner in rhyme Dolio the Sleuth, Randy makes up the rapping quotient of Gangstagrass, the bluegrass hip-hop band with an international following and miles to go. Led by their leader Rench (guitar), they stomp around the world from show to show leaving pandemonium in their wake. Gangstagrass has successfully gone from that group that does the theme song for FX's Justified to seeing their 2015 release American Music debut in the top 5 on Billboard's Bluegrass charts.
Even with hip-hop all up in his membranes, Randy is still a big kid. That's why it was a no-brainer for him to represent as our Santa Wookie at The Holiday Tribbilee: The Force Hiccups presented by The Black Tribbles and WHYY.
To know Randy is to know and love his kids. They go everywhere with him in spirit and heart but usually in person. He's all about that Team Daddy life; their security, well-being and happiness motivates him to higher heights. Lucky for them ( l to r Alex, Aaron and Ami) he has long tippy-toes.
He is literally the flyest human being alive.
